PLNU's College of Health Sciences

Designed to help graduate degree-seeking students improve the health and well-being of their communities, the programs in the College of Health Sciences prioritize critical and authentic real-world experiences. Most students spend time at our Balboa Campus, where they can take advantage of hands-on experience in cutting-edge facilities, including a fitness center, simulation and skill laboratories, and a biomechanics performance testing space.

CENTER FOR HUMAN PERFORMANCE

The Center for Human Performance is a 3,000-square-foot strength and conditioning laboratory. For sport science and strength and conditioning students, the CHP contains a gym available for students, faculty, and staff, as well as fitness classes and personal training sessions offered by experienced student physical trainers.

The Skills Lab contains individualized simulation-based hospital and clinical stations with high-fidelity mannequins, offering fully immersive experiences that confidently prepare physician assistant and athletic training students. The lab helps develop skills such as decision-making, communication, and patient care for times when they matter most.

OSCE SIMULATION LABORATORY

The Objective Structured Clinical Exam Simulation Lab is made up of six patient-encounter rooms, designed to look like a typical doctor’s office. Each room is designed to give students simulated patient-based training, as well as monitoring infrastructure for faculty to observe and provide feedback on students’ performance.
